Chester (approximately a 35 minute drive away) which offers excellent rail
links to the rest of the country. Alternatively there is a local station at
Ruabon, an 8 minute taxi ride from the Hotel. For those flying in,
Manchester Airport is just over an hour's drive away.

The Bryn Howel Hotel is the perfect base from which to explore the nearby
North Wales countryside. Take a trip on the Llangollen Canal and soak up the
spectacular views of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct built by Thomas Telford. Or
perhaps embark on a horse-drawn boat along the main canal. At Lllangollen
Railway, a steam hauled Heritage Railway Line, visitors can enjoy the
pleasures of a bygone age and even meet Thomas the Tank Engine. The Railway
is run by volunteers and operates trains along the banks of the River Dee
from Llangollen to Carrog through some of the most beautiful scenery in the
UK. For historic adventure, the magnificent fortress of Chirk Castle offers
over 700 years of intrigue and excitement including a medieval tower and
dungeon, 17th Century Long Gallery, award-winning gardens and much more
besides. Further family fun can be had at Chester Zoo, offering over 8,000
animals and 400 different species all within 110 acres of award-winning
enclosures and gardens. Fans of the great outdoors will be in their element,
with the local area providing plenty of opportunities for a wide range of

cycling routes whilst Llangollen itself is renowned for its white-water
