Scotch Corner - Road: Turn off the A1 at Scotch Corner and take the A66 towards Penrith. Follow this road through the first and second sections of dual carraigeway. You will pass a turn on the left for Greta Bridge on the second section of dual carraigeway, slow down as you are taking the next turning right with a tourist sign for Bowes Museum. After turning right, continue on this road to the traffic lights, bear right over the bridge and left at next junction. We are 200yds past the Bowes museum on the right

Darlington - Road: Take the A67 from Darlington Town Centre. Stay on this road for 15 miles to Barnard Castle. Keep on this road into the town centre and it bears left into Market Place, keep on the road till you come to the Market Cross/Buttermarket in the centre of the road. Turn left here along Newgate and we are about 300yards on the left.

M6 north - Road: Leave M6 at junction 38 and take A685 signed Brough/Appleby. Stay on A685 and merge onto A66 heading towards Scotch Corner. After about 13 miles turn off onto A67 signed to Barnard Castle. After 4miles turn right at the T junction and you will come to some traffiic lights. Turn left at the lights over the bridge and follow this road bearing left up "The Bank". At the top of the bank will be the buttermarket/market cross, turn right and we are 300yards on the left.

M6 south - Road: Turn off M6 at Junction 40 and follow the A66 Scotch Corner. Follow this road for about 30 miles until signpost for A67 to Barnard Castle. Follow A67 to T junction and turn right and thhen shortly after, left across the bridge after the traffiic lights. Follow this road bearing left up the bank and then turn right at the Buttermarket/Market Cross. We are 300yds on the left.

Darlington - Bus: take the 75/76 bus from Darlington town centre. The bus terminates at Galgate in Barnard Castle. Alight here and walk straight ahead to end of Galgate and bear left and walk along the Market Place. When you reach the Market cross/ Buttermarket, turn left allong Newgate and we are 300 yards on left Total walk is about half a mile.
