3Self Classified Inn Ratings explained
The Strand , Rye, TN31 7DB
The Ship Inn is in the centre of Rye, at the bottom of Mermaid Street. The pub was built in 1592, originally as a warehouse to store contraband seized from smugglers. It is now a characterful countryside pub, with old beams and wooden floors and various areas to sit in and relax; the sunny end in the mornings to eat breakfast and read the papers, big tables for group Sunday lunches that last all afternoon or cups of tea by the fireplace after a long walk on Camber Sands.

The Ship has 10 rooms, all with en suite baths or showers.

All the food we serve is cooked entirely from scratch by our chefs, using locally sourced produce.

Dogs, children, even mother in laws, are all very welcome so when you next feel like a bit of seaside / countryside R& know where we are

Rye is 60 miles from the M25. Come off at the M20 junction, head south towards Dover and when you get to Junction 10, Ashford int'l, come off and head towards Brenzett on the A2070. When you get to Brenzett head towards Hastings on the A259, and this road will take you all the way into Rye (it's about 15 minutes from Brenzett).

Or...why not take the train? The new super fast high speed rail link from St Pancras means you can do London to Rye in just over an hour. I know??!! Who knew??!! The train uses the eurostar line so it flies at a million miles an hour from st Pancras to Ashford, then when you get to Ashford you hop across the platform onto the shuttle service which limps along gently to Rye.
